Job Description

MalaceHR is seeking a skilled Operating Engineer to support the operation, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems within a commercial facility. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical ability, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent service to clients and tenants.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance tasks including painting, pressure washing, and minor repairs
• Maintain and replace lighting systems (bulbs/ballasts) in compliance with licensing requirements
• Support plumbing, HVAC systems, water treatment, and basic locksmith work
• Manage and update work orders daily using CMMS; respond to tenant service requests
• Conduct preventive maintenance and routine inspections on building systems
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control systems (DDC and pneumatic)
• Assist with emergency response and on-call situations as needed
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies
• Participate in ongoing technical and safety training programs
• Complete additional tasks and projects as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or related trades
• Trade school certification, union training, military experience, or college education preferred
• EPA Universal (CFC) Certification preferred, or willingness to obtain within the first year
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent customer service and communication skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Comfortable working on ladders up to 30 feet
• Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift, and perform physical tasks
