Certified Surgical Technologist – CVOR / OR Tech (CST)

Salem, Virginia · Full-Time, Permanent · Days (Rotating Weekends) · 6:00 AM–2:30 PM or 9:00 AM–5:30 PM

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are partnering with a 500+ bed acute care hospital in Salem, Virginia — a leading regional medical center with a designated Heart Center and recognized programs in cardiovascular and vascular surgery, orthopedics, spine, and cancer care — to place a Certified Surgical Technologist in their Cardiovascular OR (CVOR). This facility has served its community for over 100 years and offers a full-service surgical platform with strong leadership investment in staff development.

Both CVOR-certified techs and OR Techs with relevant scrub experience are encouraged to apply.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Scrub surgical cases in the cardiovascular OR, demonstrating proficiency with cardiac and vascular instrumentation and surgical workflow

- Maintain the sterile field and integrity of the surgical environment in compliance with facility and regulatory standards

- Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments accurately throughout procedures

- Perform pre-operative setup, intraoperative support, and post-operative breakdown for assigned cases

- Communicate effectively with the surgical team, nursing staff, and ancillary departments

- Maintain and track equipment, supplies, and instrumentation in accordance with department policy

- Support patient safety initiatives and maintain a clean, organized physical environment

REQUIREMENTS

- Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program — required

- Active Virginia Surgical Technician license and state registration — required

- BLS (Basic Life Support) — required within 90 days of hire

- 1–2 years of scrub or hospital OR experience — preferred

- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer proficiency — required

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform frequent standing, bending, and reaching during cases

OR Techs without CVOR certification will be considered if they meet the Virginia licensure and program graduation requirements.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

OR Tech:

- Entry: $24.87/hr

- Mid: $29.85/hr

- Senior: $34.82/hr

CVOR Tech (certified):

- Entry: $27.36/hr

- Mid: $32.83/hr

- Senior: $38.30/hr

Sign-on bonus: $15,000

Shift: Days — 6:00 AM–2:30 PM or 9:00 AM–5:30 PM (rotating weekends)

Rate placement based on years of verified surgical tech experience. CVOR-tier applies to candidates with confirmed cardiovascular OR background.
