Description:
Assist Lead Watercraft Inspector conduct boat inspections, public outreach and boat decontamination operations at the Grand Portage Lodge and Casino Marina. The assistant will be part of a two-person crew dedicated to inspecting and pressure-washing all recreation and fishing boats operating on Lake Superior leaving and returning to the marina. The specific purpose of the program is to reduce introductions of both zebra and quagga mussels into the Lake Superior ecosystem. Duties will include set up, operation and occasional maintenance of a trailer-mounted pressure washer (and berm/underlayment) system. Inspectors will routinely communicate with boat owners/operators and perform public outreach on the causes, effects and mitigation efforts of invasive mussels in Lake Superior.
Education:
Applicant must be pursuing a high school diploma/GED or equivalent. Previous experience in a conservation or land management field such as wildlife biology or wildland fire preferred.
